Eats, Shoots and Leaves
Lynne Truss
This is a non-fiction best seller. Anyone interested in language will love it. It advocates direct action to correct public notices containing mistakes, particularly in relation to apostrophes. It is also a serious book and can be used as a manual. Recommended you buy your own copy because you'll be constantly referring to it.

This made Seán laugh out loud. The author is so obviously sensible he was driven to wonder if she was marriageable (before he remembered that he isn't). Seán absolutely loved this book. And now we all know what the 'Oxford Comma' is.

Extensively read and reviewed. The style is conversational and funny and this must largely account for its popularity. Andrew isn't as bothered as the author about pronunciation.

Very good, but Gill was skipping a bit by the end.
