The Accidental

Ali Smith

This book has had fabulous reviews, which slightly dazzled Doreen, but she didn't really like it very much.

It's very clever, written in several different voices, and the teenagers are done particularly well. However convincing, though, they're still teenagers and therefore not that interesting.

The book is about a family taking a holiday in Suffolk, after a terrible event involving the teenaged son. A woman turns up and turns everyone else lives upside down. But the story just keeps going round and round.

Doreen kept thinking there must be some improvement round the corner, but there wasn't.
