There are fictional letters from Charlotte Brontë to a professor in Belgium and a modern story. Caroline enjoyed the Brontë bits; it made her look at the author in a new light. She lost patience with the modern part. Not one of the author's best.

This is a book full of taste colour and smell. There are two strands. One is a collection of letters written (but not sent) by Charlotte Bronte to the Belgian teacher she is in love with. The other is modern tale of two sisters. Doreen enjoyed the book but it's one for Roberts' fans.
