How I Live Now

Meg Rossoff

This is her first novel. It is meant for teenagers, and has been very well reviewed. At the beginning it seems like an old story, but it turns out differently from what was expected. The children are left on their own and have a dangerous adventure.

Recommended.

A book, set in the near future, and aimed at teenage girls. The heroine, a 15 year old anorexic American girl who comes to England, is a likeable character, who finds the English very quaint. Recommended.

A teenage read - but don't let that put you off. About England under occupation, with the narrator journeying through a war, and a bit of a love story. Sparky, lively narrative, but a bit of an effort to read - doesn't pull you along. Cautiously recommended.
