Cider with Roadies
Stuart Maconie
This is an autobiography of two aspects of the author's life, growing up in Wigan and working as a music journalist. It has a good narrative and is an easy read; the author is self-effacing and funny.

The author was a journalist on NME and is now a DJ. Bob has read three books on this theme and this one is the least good. It has all the required references to music but also a lot of name-dropping. The author seems to have been in at the beginning of everything: Northern Soul, Punk, The Smiths – but Bob was not convinced. OK but not as good as ‘Lost in Music’ by Giles Smith.
