Suzy, Led Zeppelin and Me

Martin Millar

This is the author's reminiscences about being 14/15 years old and his friends in Glasgow. Suzy (another boy's girlfriend) is his obsession, and Led Zeppelin come to play in Glasgow. He and his friends are about to fail their GCSE exams - they have a simple, single-minded approach to life. He compares this with his life later in Brixton. He has no regrets.

A simple, very sweet and engaging story about a fourteen year old boy, in the 70s, obsessed with Led Zeppelin's impending visit to Glasgow (where he lives) and a girl at his school called Suzy. The book is comforting and familiar but refreshing with its lack of great ambitions. Bob enjoyed it, thought it was very funny. The episode with the hero in hospital was a real tear jerker, very emotional.
