The No.1 Ladies' Detective Agency
Alexander McCall Smith
A very likable story set in Botswana. The author's love of the
country comes over strongly. The feel of the book is gentle, and
the language beautiful.

Christine liked the author's moral style, and his way of talking
about Africa. He feels Africa ought to be left alone to sort out
its problems, it doesn't need our help. Christine found this book
marvelous - very light, but still deep.

Andrew found this "dead simple" - a little too simple. He wasn't
engaged by it and didn't like its repetitiveness. There was
discussion as to whether it presented a "rose-tinted" view of
Botswana, and Seán, who had visited Botswana, thought that
mostly it was not.

A lovely read. A nicely-told story and very enjoyable
