The Constant Gardener
John le Carré
Doreen had always been put off by this writer's spy themes so
this was the first book of his that she'd read. She found it very
good, in fact a "thumping good read". Even though there are a few
spies present, the main characters are not. It is about
corruption - a scandal in the pharmaceutical industry - and is
set in Africa. It is told in retrospect after you are told at the
start that one of the main characters is dead. An engaging and
interesting book, recommended.
