A Cure For Gravity
Joe Jackson
Lent to Bob by Andrew after a previous discussion about Lost In
Music, this is the autobiography of a moderately successful pop
musician, though he concentrates exclusively on his pre-success
years and the interminable struggle to achieve any kind of
recognition. Interesting, though he's not a great writer.

Caroline thoroughly enjoyed this autobiography. It's about his musical education and pretty much stops as soon as he becomes successful - even his marriage rates only one paragraph. He starts in Portsmouth and travels via The Royal Academy of Music - a bit of a misfit here - to become a struggling performer. All covered in a fascinating way, until his success which is reported very briefly. Doreen wanted to know would she enjoy the book even if she didn't know who the author was and everybody present who'd read the book said "yes".
