Doreen normally enjoys Anne Fine books but she gave up on this one. It's a very well written book with three main characters - the mother, a manipulative cow; a pathetic weak son and a spiteful, vindictive, nasty daughter. They were all horrid and made Doreen so depressed that she gave up.

Bob, however, said the book needed reading to the end.
