A Gathering Light

This is based on the true story of a murder committed at the
beginning of the 20th century. It is the author's first novel and
is marvelously well written. There are some lovely characters,
the main one a teenage girl.

Christine loved this book but Doreen did not, thought it 'too
obvious'. The heroine, another 15 year old, is not very
interesting, a bit of a cliché. Her mother is dead and she
is struggling to look after her family while also aspiring to be
a writer.
