Sleep with Me
Joanna Briscoe
Bob described this as “earthily written”, in fact his description was so earthy that the note-taker spilt wine on her notes and dissolved into giggles – then the rest of the group giggled, too. Order restored, Bob explained that although the author seemed to understand men’s psychology this thriller was a little overdone; the usual triangle of man, woman and then a third enters the scene… Heartily recommended.

Rory didn't like this book at all. He didn't like the characters or the style and didn't care what happened. It was also pretentious.
At this point Doreen added that she didn't like it either. There were no surprises as there were only four characters so there was a limited range of possibilities. It was also patronising and unbelievable.

Jean read this because Bob had said that the author knew how men think, but Jean thought that was not necessarily true. Nearly didn't finish the book because it got so nasty. Didn't dislike it as much as Doreen had but still not her kind of book – an effective thriller though.
