Kitchen Confidential
Anthony Bourdain
Heard on the radio. Absolutely brilliant, funny, outrageous and quite shocking. A.A.Gill called it Elizabeth David scripted by Quentin Tarantino and it confirmed all of Carolyn's prejudices about food. Principally set in New York but some experiences from the author's time in Japan.

Very entertaining account of life in the restaurant business. Some
horrendous stories of sex and violence but also interesting to finally
understand how restaurants manage to put together so many different
meals in such a short time. Enjoyable reading apart from the last few
chapters where the author becomes a bit arrogant.

Entertaining but insufferable - interesting about how a kitchen works, the phrases, the mystique, and how little cooking he actually does. The people who put the food on the plate are semi-literate Guatemalans and Colombians. Good tip - don't eat seafood fricassee on a Monday.

The frames have gone all funny - click to make it good.
