Oracle Night
Paul Auster
Andrew had enjoyed Auster's books before and likes the fact that they hit the ground running, with strong plot lines. This one has several. The central character is a writer so we get his present day situation, then the story he begins writing (and never finishes) and some lengthy reminiscences (in footnote form) about how he met his wife. Required quite a deal of concentration and Auster almost loses the reader by trying to intertwine the various strands.
